Depredación tecnológica y creación de una élite: la respuesta mallorquina a la situación naviera hispana del siglo XVII

Abstract

El artículo analiza la renovación del parque naviero mallorquín con una incorporación forzosa de embarcaciones a través del corso como vía de aproximación a la frontera tecnológica naval. La depredación corsaria aportó los buques necesarios para ese proceso. También proporcionó el capital requerido para desarrollar una pequeña marina mercante a través de las reinversiones de un grupo de marineros y mercaderes que aprovecharon las oportunidades de negocio que brindaba la guerra para comprar partes de embarcaciones.
