El consumo urbano en Andalucía Oriental a mediados del siglo XIX

Abstract

El propósito de este trabajo es presentar una fuente para el estudio del consumo en Espa˜na, la información del impuesto de puertas de 1835-39 contenida en el Diccionario de Madoz, así como la metodología necesaria para construir cestas de la compra a partir de ella. Con esta finalidad se estima la estructura del consumo urbano de dos ciudades del sur de la Península Ibérica, Jaén y Granada. Los resultados son bastante parecidos a los hallados en otras ciudades, como Valladolid y Alcoy, con otras fuentes. KEY Classification-JEL: N33. N93. O18. P46
