El sector cervecero español en el siglo XX . Una visión desde dentro: El Alcázar

Abstract

Con relación al sector cervecero español, se han realizado amplios estudios sobre empresas individuales. No obstante, no existe la misma abundancia respecto al sector cervecero en su conjunto. Este trabajo analiza el desarrollo del sector en el siglo XX , utilizando, entre otras fuentes, las Memorias y las Actas generadas por una empresa cervecera de mediana dimensión. De esta forma, se presenta una visión del sector desde un punto de vista particular, que a estos efectos consideramos especialmente relevante al coincidir en la misma persona, durante 10 años, la dirección general de esta empresa con la presidencia de la Asociación Nacional de Cerveceros. El análisis muestra que el despegue del sector se produjo en la década de 1960. Posteriormente, con la incorporación de España a la CEE, se ha producido un proceso de concentración que ha dado lugar a un oligopolio dominado por 3 grandes cerveceras, a diferencia de las múltiples y más reducidas empresas de comienzos de siglo.
