The Degree Of Financial Education At The Romanian People

Abstract

Economic cyclicality is a reality, rise and fall of world financial markets is a phenomenon known by experts. Profits but also potential risks are taken into account by those who invest and investor behavior on the developed markets is being studied carefully for many years (Byrne K., Journal of Financial Services Marketing, September 2005, Goodman A., The Actuarial Profession, 2004). Financial entities are becoming increasingly interested in identifying products that can bring satisfaction for both consumers and their own companies. A good knowledge of the categories of consumers in terms of financial education are reflected in the creation of financial product offerings closer to the needs of each category separately, thus reducing significantly the uncertainty of success of new products on the market. (Costanzo LA, Ashton JK, Journal of Financial Regulation and Compliance, 2006). This need exists also on the Romanian market, and this article responds to this need by interpreting the results of marketing research that was conducted among potential consumers - individuals. The purpose of the research was finding the level of financial education of the population in terms of understanding the concepts of saving and investing, and the differences between them. Also been studied the understanding of the financial risk concept in investment processes treated.
