Brachliegende Potenziale durch Underachievement: Soziale Herkunft kann früh Bildungschancen verbauen

Abstract

Viele Jugendliche in Deutschland besuchen eine Schulform, die ihren kognitiven Fähigkeiten nicht entspricht. Das Underachievement-Risiko ist ungleich verteilt: Schüler aus Familien mit niedrigerer Bildung haben ein drei Mal höheres Risiko als Alters-genossen aus besser gebildeten Familien. Eltern ohne Abitur melden ihre Kinder häufiger an Haupt- und Realschulen an, selbst wenn diese für die Realschule oder das Gymnasium empfohlen wurden.
