Die Zukunft der WTO nach der Ministerkonferenz in Nairobi

Abstract

Kurz vor Weihnachten 2015 fand die Ministerkonferenz der Welthandelsorganisation (WTO) erstmals in Afrika statt. Die Reaktionen auf die Ergebnisse dieser 10. Ministerkonferenz reichen von Urteilen wie »Tod der WTO-Doha-Runde« bis zur Einordnung als »historisches« Paket durch WTO-Generaldirektor Azevedo. Eine sachliche Betrachtung zeigt ein gemischtes Bild: In Nairobi wurden einige wichtige Beschlüsse gefasst, doch stand ein Großteil der strittigen Fragen gar nicht auf der Agenda. Unklarer als je zuvor ist, wie die Verhandlungen künftig weitergehen sollen. Das fortbestehende überragende gemeinsame Interesse am globalen öffentlichen Gut eines starken Welthandelssystems sollte die Mitgliedstaaten bewegen, konstruktive neue Ansätze zu finden.
