Reaktionen auf den "Islamischen Staat" (ISIS) in Russland und Nachbarländern

Abstract

Russland hat sein militärisches Eingreifen in Syrien mit eigenen Sicherheitsinteressen im Kampf gegen den »Islamischen Staat« (IS, ISIS) begründet und auf die Notwendigkeit einer internationalen Kooperation beim Vorgehen gegen diese Terrormiliz verwiesen. Anzeichen dafür, dass Russland und seine kaukasischen und zentralasiatischen Nachbarn durch den IS bedroht werden könnten, haben sich im Laufe des Jahres 2015 verdichtet. Der bisherige Verlauf des russischen Militäreinsatzes in Syrien zeigt aber, dass diese Begründung eher instrumentellen Charakter hat und hinter Motive zurücktritt, die sich vielmehr aus einem russischen Großmachtanspruch auf eine maßgebliche Rolle im Mittleren Osten ableiten.
