Auszeit statt Annäherung: Die indisch-pakistanischen Beziehungen in der Abwärtsspirale

Abstract

Mit dem Amtsantritt des neuen indischen Premierministers Narendra Modi verknüpften sich große Erwartungen, dass sich Indiens schwierige Beziehungen mit Pakistan verbessern würden. Nach mehr als einem Jahr Regierungszeit befindet sich das bilaterale Verhältnis aber in einer Abwärtsspirale und nicht am Beginn einer neuen Annäherung. Verschiedene Anläufe zu einem neuen Dialog sind gescheitert, beide Seiten haben sich auf ihre traditionellen Positionen in der Kaschmirfrage und bei der Bekämpfung des Terrorismus zurückgezogen. Weder für Indien noch für Pakistan hat die Annäherung gegenwärtig Priorität. (SWP-Aktuell)
