Das deutsch-ukrainische Verhältnis am Beginn der Post-Merkel-Ära: Enttäuschungen und Irritationen überlagern strategische Fragen

Abstract

Unter der letzten Bundesregierung wurde Deutschland zum wichtigsten internationalen Partner der Ukraine nach den USA. Ungeachtet dessen hat sich die ukrainische Führung stets mehr sicherheitspolitische Unterstützung Berlins erwartet und fürchtet jetzt, dass sich die neue Bundesregierung wieder stärker auf Russland orientiert. Russlandfreundlichen Kräften in der neuen deutschen Regierungskoalition könnte dabei in die Hände spielen, dass die von Deutschland und der EU geforderten inner­ukrainischen Reformprozesse unter Präsident Wolodymyr Selenskyj an Schwung verloren haben. Die neue Bundesregierung sollte die Krise um die Ukraine jedoch vor allem unter dem Aspekt deutscher und europäischer Sicherheitsinteressen betrachten. In diesem Sinne wird empfohlen, den Ukraine-Konflikt in Berlin prioritär zu behandeln und sich sicherheitspolitisch stärker zu engagieren.
