Abstract

Der VN-Klimagipfel in Paris wird einen neuen Typ von Abkommen hervorbringen, der auf Zusagen freiwilliger Emissionsminderungen beruht (bottom-up). Dies markiert die Abkehr vom »top-down«-Paradigma, das die internationale Klimapolitik seit mehr als zwei Jahrzehnten dominiert. Klimawissenschaftliche Beraterinnen und Berater sollten diesen Paradigmenwandel zum Anlass nehmen, ihre Rolle in der internationalen Klimapolitik zu hinterfragen. In Zukunft wird es schwieriger werden, Expertise bereitzustellen, die für sich beanspruchen kann, sowohl wissenschaftlich stichhaltig als auch politisch anschlussfähig zu sein. In Situationen, wo diese beiden Standards guter wissenschaftlicher Politikberatung miteinander in Konflikt geraten, müssen Berater/innen und Beratungsgremien sicherstellen, dass die wissenschaftliche Integrität der Klimaforschung nicht untergraben wird.
