Krise der deutsch-amerikanischen Beziehungen? Über den Umgang mit den USA

Abstract

Die gegenwärtigen Belastungen auf der Regierungsebene summieren sich noch zu keiner Krise der deutsch-amerikanischen Beziehungen. Doch die politischen Divergenzen und Dissonanzen sind Ausdruck struktureller Konflikte im transatlantischen Verhältnis, die durch den Strategiewandel amerikanischer Weltpolitik nach dem 11. September verstärkt wurden. Der sich abzeichnende Paradigmenwechsel in der US-Außenpolitik stellt die deutsche Amerikapolitik vor neue Herausforderungen, die weder durch unreflektierte Verweigerung noch durch reflexhafte Loyalität zu meistern sind, sondern einen strategisch angelegten Umgang mit den USA erfordern.
