Politischer Erdrutsch bei den Wahlen in der Türkei: Die lang erwartete Überraschung

Abstract

Am 3. November 2002 wurde in der Türkei ein neues Parlament gewählt. Nach den Wahlen ist eine völlig neue politische Landschaft entstanden: Das etablierte Parteienspektrum verlor über ein Drittel an Zustimmung, mehr als 40 Prozent der Wähler wendeten sich von den regierenden Parteien ab. Deutlicher Sieger wurde mit 34,2% der Stimmen und nahezu zwei Dritteln der Sitze die gemäßigte muslimisch-konservative Gerechtigkeits- und Entwicklungspartei (AKP). Doch wird das Regieren für sie nicht leicht sein. Der Parteivorsitzende Recep Tayyip Erdoğan kann aus juristischen Gründen kein politisches Amt ausüben, das kemalistische Establishment in der Türkei wird jede Maßnahme der AKP argwöhnisch unter dem Kriterium überprüfen, ob sie zur Islamisierung beiträgt, und die EU-Staaten werden gegenüber einer »islamisch« regierten Türkei erhebliche Zurückhaltung zeigen. Die AKP und auch die Türkei stehen vor einer enormen politischen Bewährungsprobe. (SWP-aktuell / SWP)
