Die Europäisierung der Wirtschaftspolitik: Eine neue EU-Politik im Werden

Abstract

Der Kern des europäischen Integrationsprozesses ist der weltweit größte Binnenmarkt mit mehr als 500 Millionen Konsumentinnen und Konsumenten sowie einem Bruttoinlandsprodukt von fast 14 Billionen Euro. In diesem gemeinsamen Markt können Arbeitnehmerinnen und Arbeitnehmer sich frei bewegen und Unternehmen sich überall niederlassen. Kapital und Dienstleistungen können die nationalen Grenzen überqueren, Güter problemlos gekauft und verkauft werden. Die EU kann die Zulassung von Gütern und Dienstleistungen regulieren, europäische Mindeststandards festlegen und mit Strukturfonds Investitionen anstoßen. Die meisten Mitgliedstaaten sind Teil eines gemeinsamen Währungsraums. Was die Europäische Union allerdings noch nicht hat, ist eine gemeinsame europäische Wirtschaftspolitik. (SWP-Aktuell)
