Russland und der arabische Frühling: Außen- und innenpolitische Herausforderungen

Abstract

Der »arabische Frühling« ist eine doppelte Herausforderung für Russland. Erstens geht es für Moskau darum, in einer Phase des Umbruchs in Nordafrika und dem Nahen Osten seine dortigen Interessen und Großmachtambitionen zu wahren. Scheiterte es dabei in Libyen, verteidigt es seine Ansprüche in Syrien umso vehementer. Widerstreitende Auffassungen zwischen Russland und den westlichen Staaten zu den gewalttätigen Aufständen und Auseinandersetzungen in Libyen und Syrien sind dabei sowohl Ursache als auch Folge sich verschlechternder russisch-westlicher Beziehungen. Zweitens ist der arabische Frühling auch eine innenpolitische Bewährungsprobe für das »System Putin«, dessen Legitimitätskrise spätestens angesichts der Massendemonstrationen im Dezember 2011 offenkundig wurde
