Abstract

Der Anlaß des 40. Jahrestages des Elysée-Vertrages am 22. Januar 2003 diente nicht nur zur symbolischen Inszenierung deutsch-französischer Versöhnung und Zusammenarbeit. Die Regierungen in Paris und Berlin nutzten ihn auch, um den Anspruch zu erneuern, eine privilegierte Sonderbeziehung innerhalb der Europäischen Union zu pßegen. Welche konkreten Ergebnisse hat der Jubiläumsgipfel gebracht? Inwiefern ist tatsächlich - über die Feierlichkeiten hinaus - mit einer dauerhaften politischen Neubelebung deutsch-französischer Beziehungen zu rechnen? Welchen europäischen Mehrwert lassen die jüngsten europapolitischen Initiativen beider Länder erkennen? Mit welchen Risiken ist die weitere Entwicklung des bilateralen Verhältnisses behaftet, welche zentralen Herausforderungen müssen bewältigt werden? (SWP-aktuell / SWP)
