Abstract

Die Begegnung zwischen den Präsidenten Raúl Castro und Barack Obama dominierte den VII. Gipfel der Staaten Nord-, Mittel-, Südamerikas und der Karibik, der am 10. und 11. April 2015 in Panama-Stadt stattfand. Ihr historischer Handschlag versinnbildlicht den Wandel in den Beziehungen zwischen den USA und Kuba. Doch auf dem amerikanischen Kontinent sind derzeit noch mehr Veränderungen zu beobachten. Viele lateinamerikanische Regierungen stehen vor großen innen- und wirtschaftspolitischen Herausforderungen, die die Außenpolitik bzw. regionale Führungsambitionen in den Hintergrund rücken lassen und Gewichtsverschiebungen zur Folge haben werden.
