US-Außenpolitik nach den Wahlen 2016: Gegensätzliche Leitbilder der Präsidentschaftsbewerber und innenpolitische Dynamik

Abstract

Hillary Clinton und Donald Trump sind ein ungleiches Paar. Sie ist die erfahrene Politikerin und ehemalige Außenministerin, er hingegen ist der Außenseiter, dessen Positionen oft krude und widersprüchlich erscheinen. Beide repräsentieren zudem völlig unterschiedliche Leitbilder für die Rolle Amerikas in der Welt. Clinton vertritt eine liberale internationale Ordnung, für deren Erhalt die USA erhebliche Ressourcen aufbringen, während Trump auf »America first« setzt. Welches dieser Leitbilder die Politik der USA künftig prägen wird, hängt nicht nur vom Ausgang der Präsidentschaftswahlen ab. Als ebenso relevant könnten sich die programmatischen Anpassungsprozesse erweisen, welche die beiden großen Parteien derzeit durchlaufen. (SWP-Aktuell)
