Ölpreisbaisse - Konsequenzen für Wirtschaft, Geopolitik und Energiewende

Abstract

Seit Mitte vergangenen Jahres hat sich der Rohölpreis zeitweise mehr als halbiert. Ein solcher Preisverfall innerhalb nur eines halben Jahres ist extrem. Das heute Erstaunliche und Präzedenzlose ist, dass der Ölpreis derart drastisch sinkt, obwohl die wichtigen traditionellen Förderregionen des Mittleren Ostens und Russland in geopolitischen Krisen stecken. Momentan herrscht Wettbewerb im Markt und das Angebot übersteigt die Nachfrage. Den Ölverbrauchern beschert der Preissturz unerwartete Windfall-Gewinne, den Ölproduzenten kräftige Einnahmeausfälle. Unklar ist, wie lange die Niedrigpreisphase anhalten und ob sie möglicherweise gar ein Comeback der fossilen Energieträger auslösen wird. Führen die heute bei niedrigen Preisen unterlassenen Investitionen mittelfristig zu neuen Preisschüben und Angebotslücken? Verstärken sich die geopolitischen Verwerfungen noch und verlangsamt sich die Energiewende? (SWP-Aktuell)
