Ein wichtiger Schritt in Richtung EU: Das türkische Parlament verabschiedet "historisches" Reformpaket

Abstract

In einem politischen Kraftakt sondergleichen hat das türkische Parlament in den frühen Morgenstunden des 3. August 2002 ein politisches Reformpaket verabschiedet, das weiter reicht als die bisherigen. Es soll die Türkei dem ersehnten EU-Beitritt näher bringen. Dieser als »historisch« zu bezeichnende Schritt kann langfristig die politische Kultur des Landes erheblich verändern, wenn die Umsetzung der Parlamentsbeschlüsse in diesem Geiste erfolgt. Das wird entscheidend davon abhängen, wie die EU auf den Schritt der Türkei reagiert. Aber auch die Bestätigung der Reformkräfte durch die Wähler in den vorgezogenen türkischen Neuwahlen am 3. November ist notwendig. EU-Verhalten und Wahlausgang beeinflussen sich gegenseitig. Ein Rückschlag kann nicht ausgeschlossen werden. (SWP-aktuell / SWP)
