Die strategische Anpassung der Nato: Deutschland ist das Rückgrat für die militärische Neuaufstellung der Allianz

Abstract

Auf dem Gipfel in Wales im September 2014 haben die Nato-Staaten als Reaktion auf die Ukraine-Krise die tiefgreifendste militärische Anpassung der Allianz seit dem Ende des Kalten Krieges beschlossen. Ziel ist eine umfangreiche Stärkung und Anpassung der Verteidigungsfähigkeiten. Damit wird Bündnisverteidigung wieder zur Kernaufgabe der Nato. Dies fordert von sämtlichen Alliierten erhebliche politische, militärische und finanzielle Anstrengungen, doch im Zentrum der Aufmerksamkeit steht Deutschland. Erstens hat es die Wales-Beschlüsse maßgeblich mitgestaltet. Zweitens erwarten die Partner, dass es aufgrund seiner wirtschaftlichen Stärke mehr militärische und finanzielle Lasten trägt. Drittens hat sich Berlin mit dem Rahmennationenkonzept selbst unter Druck gesetzt, die Verteidigungskooperation voranzubringen. (SWP-Aktuell)
