Wasserstoff aus Oman für Deutschland und die EU: Nicht nur aus energiepolitischer Perspektive sinnvoll

Abstract

Deutschland und die EU möchten künftig Wasserstoff und dessen Derivate aus den arabischen Golfstaaten importieren. Zwar hat Deutschland dafür eine gemeinsame Absichtserklärung mit dem Sultanat Oman unterzeichnet, konzentriert seine Anstrengungen aber in erster Linie auf dessen größere Nachbarstaaten. Oman hintanzustellen wäre jedoch ein energiepolitischer, geostrategischer und klimaaußenpolitischer Fehler. Nicht nur können Omans ambitionierte Wasserstoffpläne für bezahlbare saubere Energie sorgen. Darüber hinaus entsprechen vertiefte (Handels-)Beziehungen mit dem Sultanat dem Ansatz einer werteorientierten Handelspolitik, fördern den internationalen Klimaschutz und tragen zur Stabilisierung der Machtverhältnisse im Golf bei. Damit beugen sie gefährlichen Konflikten vor.
