Kriegsgefahr im Pazifik? Analogien zum Großen Krieg 1914

Abstract

Chinas Aufstieg droht eine alte Ordnung zu zerstören und damit wie einst das Deutsche Reich einen Kriegsgrund zu schaffen. Manche schließen einen friedlichen Aufstieg sogar kategorisch aus. Aber muss deshalb erneut ein Krieg entstehen? Der Vergleich zwischen 1914 und heute, zwischen Europa am Vorabend des Ersten Weltkriegs und der aktuellen Lage in Ostasien, ist natürlich problematisch. Gleichwohl erscheinen die Entwicklungen beunruhigend ähnlich. Schließlich gelten die Streitigkeiten im Ost-chinesischen und Südchinesischen Meer schon seit einigen Jahren als mögliche Ursache einer sino-amerikanischen Konfrontation. Analogien zwischen dem Großen Krieg 1914 und der Situation in Ostasien müssen jedoch nüchtern beurteilt werden (jedenfalls ohne darüber in Hysterie zu verfallen). (SWP-Aktuell)
