Die Krise in Syrien - Möglichkeiten und Grenzen militärischen Eingreifens

Abstract

Der oppositionelle Syrische Nationalrat hat jüngst eine internationale militärische Intervention in Syrien und eine Unterbrechung der Waffenlieferungen an Damaskus gefordert. Damit scheint eine weitere militärische Eskalation der Krise in Syrien unausweichlich. Für die internationale Politik verschärft sich dadurch ein Dilemma: Entweder akzeptieren die westlichen Regierungen das Scheitern ihrer bisherigen Bemühungen, den Konflikt einzuhegen, und lassen seiner Eskalation zu einem Bürgerkrieg mit Tausenden von Toten ihren Lauf. Oder aber sie ziehen ein militärisches Engagement in Betracht, mit allen damit verbundenen militärischen Risiken und mit ungewissem politischem Ausgang
