Das Valletta-Dilemma: Warum afrikanische Migrations-Governance im Mittelpunkt stehen sollte

Abstract

Angesichts der enormen Flüchtlingsströme in Richtung Europa hat die Europäische Union (EU) vom 11.-12. November 2015 einen Migrationsgipfel in Valletta, Malta, einberufen. Die afrikanische Seite wurde eingeladen, an diesem Treffen teilzunehmen. Welche Entscheidungen auch immer in Valletta gefällt werden - aus afrikanischer Sicht ist die europäische Migrationspolitik keineswegs dringlicher als die afrikanische. Dr. Mehari Taddele Maru erläutert im aktuellen Global Governance Spotlight Hintergründe der gegenwärtigen Migrationskrise in Afrika, identifiziert eine Reihe von Diskrepanzen in der Umsetzung der afrikanischen Migrations-Governance und unterstreicht, wie der Gipfel in Valletta die Migrationskrise in eine Chance verwandeln könnte. Zudem spricht er Empfehlungen für eine wirksame Migrations-Governance sowie die Entwicklungs- und Handels-Agenda der EU/AU-Partnerschaft aus.
