Autonome Waffensysteme: Humanisierung oder Entmenschlichung des Krieges?

Abstract

Der Einsatz und die Potenziale von Drohnen werden derzeit intensiv diskutiert. Doch jenseits der breiteren Öffentlichkeit wird längst weiter gedacht. Autonome Waffensysteme - von ihren GegnerInnen auch "Killer Robots" genannt - gelten als die Repräsentanten eines kommenden Paradigmenwechsels in der Kriegsführung. Über den Einsatz von (tödlicher) Waffengewalt sollen sie ohne menschliches Zutun entscheiden können. Noch existieren sie nur in Form von Vorläufern, doch an ihrer Entwicklung wird auf Hochtouren gearbeitet. Über den Umgang mit diesen Systemen berieten vom 13.-16. Mai 2014 erstmals StaatenvertreterInnen und ExpertInnen im Rahmen der Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons (CCW).
