Die G7-CONNEX-Initiative: Erfüllt sie ihren Zweck?

Abstract

Die G7-CONNEX-Initiative stand beim G7-Gipfel im Juni 2015 in Schloss Elmau, Deutschland, mit auf der Tagesordnung. Sie wurde im Juni 2014 ins Leben gerufen, um rohstoffreiche Entwicklungsländer bei komplexen Vertragsverhandlungen, insbesondere im Rohstoffsektor, zu unterstützen. Dabei soll ein geeignetes, förderliches Umfeld geschaffen werden, um Ressourcen aus dem Rohstoffsektor dafür zu nutzen, einen erheblichen Beitrag zur Armutsbekämpfung zu leisten. Im aktuellen Global Governance Spotlight betrachten Myriam Carius und Opemiposi Adegbulu die Initiative aus der Sicht rohstoffreicher Entwicklungsländer, auf die die Initiative ausgerichtet zu sein scheint. Sie analysieren, ob die Initiative tatsächlich ein Mehrwehrt zu den bereits existierenden Mechanismen für die Aushandlung komplexer Verträge schafft und geben Empfehlungen, auf welche Weise die G7-Staaten aktive, nachhaltige Unterstützung für rohstoffreiche Länder im Hinblick auf komplexe Investitionsverträge bieten könnten.
