Die volkswirtschaftliche Gesamtrechnung am aktuellen Rand

Abstract

Den Ergebnissen der VGR - insbesondere jenen am aktuellen Rand - kommt in der EU eminente politische Bedeutung zu. In dem Bestreben um 'Aktualität' werden die Lieferfristen immer weiter verkürzt. Vor diesem Hintergrund ist der Beitrag dem epistemologischen Charakter der Rechnung am aktuellen Rand gewidmet und illustriert an Hand empirischer Beispiele, wie sehr deren Ergebnisse einer anderen Kategorie von Information angehören als später vorliegende Resultate für die gleiche Referenzperiode. Der Erwartungshaltung der Politik und der Medien trotzend, sollte in Publikationen nicht der Eindruck erweckt werden, dass die VGR am aktuellen Rand ihrem Informationsgehalt nach mit den endgültigen Resultaten der VGR vergleichbar wäre. Die Statistischen Ämter sollten durch die umfassende und offensive Veröffentlichung aller Metadaten dazu beitragen, irreführende Interpretationen zu vermeiden.
