Umsetzung der EU-Konfliktmineraleverordnung in Österreich II: Standortbestimmung nach dem zweiten Jahr in voller Geltung

Abstract

Seit 2021 müssen Unternehmen, die Tantal, Wolfram, Zinn und Gold in die Europäische Union (EU) importieren und einen bestimmten Schwellenwert überschreiten, Sorgfaltspflichten umsetzen um zu verhindern, durch ihre Beschaffungspraktiken zu Konflikten und Menschenrechtsverletzungen beizutragen. Laut EU-Kommission fallen insgesamt zwischen 600 und 800 Unternehmen unter die Verordnung, in Österreich waren dies im Jahr 2022 13 Unternehmen. Diese müssen der Öffentlichkeit über die Umsetzung der Sorgfaltspflichten jährlich Bericht erstatten. Der Research Report untersucht die Umsetzung der Verordnung in Österreich im zweiten Jahr der Berichtspflicht. Basierend auf Desk-Recherche und Interviews gibt der Report einen Überblick über die Berichtslegung in Bezug auf das Jahr 2022, diskutiert verschiedene Aspekte der Umsetzung der Verordnung und endet mit Schlussfolgerungen und Empfehlungen.
