Abstract

No blood in my cell phone' - mit eindrücklichen Slogans veranschaulichten NGOs Anfang der 2000er-Jahre Zusammenhänge zwischen Konsumprodukten und der Finanzierung von Kriegen. Das gestiegene öffentliche Bewusstsein mündete in der Verabschiedung verschiedener Regulierungen zum Thema 'Konfliktmineralien'. Diese Regulierungen haben zum Ziel, durch die Implementierung unternehmerischer Sorgfaltspflichten die Finanzierung von gewaltsamen Konflikten bei der Rohstoffbeschaffung zu unterbinden. Das vorliegende Briefing Paper beschreibt die wichtigsten dieser Initiativen, analysiert potenzielle Auswirkungen und skizziert Herausforderungen.
