    Abstract

-- The lecture looks back at one of Lutz' most important books, Der kurze Traum immerwährender Prosperität (The Short Dream of Everlasting Prosperity; 1984). In the light of the experience of the two decades that have since passed it discusses whether and in what sense Lutz' analysis may still claim validity. Special attention is paid to the consequences of accelerated globalization since the 1990s.
