Abstract

Die Studie rückt ein klassisches gewerkschaftliches Thema (Arbeit und Leben) in ein neues Licht und entfaltet so ein neues Handlungsfeld für die Gewerkschaften im 21. Jahrhundert.Vor dem Hintergrund des Wandels der Familie und der Arbeitswelt entwirft die Studie grundsätzliche und konkrete Strategien, wie Gewerkschaften und Betriebsräte auf den verschiedenen Handlungsebenen (Staat, Tarifverträge, Betrieb, Kommunen) die Wünsche der Mitglieder wie aller arbeitenden Menschen erfolgreich durchsetzen können, Arbeit und Leben, Beruf und Familie besser als bisher vereinbaren zu können.Eine solche neuartige Work-Life Balance ist Voraussetzung dafür, der Gleichheit zwischen den Geschlechtern näher zu kommen, mehr Frauen in den Arbeitsmarkt zu integrieren, mehr Sicherheit und Wachstum durch mehr Beschäftigung zu schaffen und so neue Wege zum persönlichen und zum wirtschaftlichen Erfolg einzuschlagen.
