Konkurrenz oder Komplementarität? Duale Ausbildungsformen in Betrieben der Metall- und Elektroindustrie

Abstract

Das duale Studium bricht als Angebot für die berufliche Erstqualifizierung die Grenzen zwischen Hochschule und Arbeitswelt auf. Durch seine Organisation in theoretische und in betriebspraktische Phasen rückt dieses Modell in die Nähe des klassischen dualen Bildungstyps, der Berufsausbildung. Immer mehr Unternehmen nutzen das duale Studium, um ihren akademischen Nachwuchs schon frühzeitig auszuwählen und an sich zu binden.Wie wirken sich die hohen Zuwächse beim dualen Studium auf den Stellenwert der dualen Berufsausbildung aus? Anhand dreier Betriebsfallstudien in großen Unternehmen der Metall- und Elektroindustrie werden Indizien für Entwicklungen und mögliche Veränderungen bei den Zahlen der Ausbildungsplätze, den betrieblichen Aufstiegswegen, den dahinterstehenden Personalstrategien und der Rolle des Betriebsrats gesammelt.Im gewerblich-technischen Bereich kommt es bislang zu punktuellen Verschiebungen, der kaufmännische Bereich steht stärker in Konkurrenz zum dualen Studium. Die Untersuchung liefert Hinweise dafür, dass sich Verdrängungstendenzen in Zukunft verstärken können.
