Die Polizei braucht Rechtssicherheit

Abstract

Die Polizei in ihrer heutigen Form entstand im Jahr 2012 durch die Zusammenführung von 31 Organisationseinheiten. Diesem Schritt vorgelagert war die Zusammenlegung von Bundesgendarmerie, Bundessicherheitswachekorps und Kriminalbeamtenkorps im Jahr 2005. Die zentrale Organisation der österreichischen Bundespolizei ist im Bundesministerium für Inneres angesiedelt. Nachgeordnet sind die neun Landespolizeidirektionen, die für die Aufrechterhaltung der inneren Sicherheit verantwortlich sind. Etwa 37.000 Beamtinnen und Beamten versehen in rund 1.300 Dienststellen ihren Dienst und sind dort für die Verrichtung des Exekutivdiensts zuständig. Die Aufgaben der Sicherheitspolizei, Verwaltungspolizei und Kriminalpolizei werden von Exekutiv- und von Verwaltungsbediensteten besorgt.
