Besonderheiten der Corona-Rezession und die Rolle des Binnenmarktes

Abstract

Liechtensteins Volkswirtschaft ist im Vergleich mit anderen Staaten und auch verglichen mit der Finanzkrise 2008/09 verhältnismässig gut durch die Corona-Rezession gekommen. Im Gegensatz dazu mussten grössere Staaten in der jüngsten Rezession wesentlich stärkere Wirtschaftseinbrüche als in der Finanzkrise hinnehmen. Die heimische Nachfrage nach inländischen Gütern und Dienstleistungen, welche üblicherweise bei globalen Wirtschaftskrisen als nationaler Puffer fungiert, konnte während der COVID-19-Pandemie diese stabilisierende Funktion nicht erfüllen, wie im LI Focus 1/2022 mit statistischen Analysen und Regressionen gezeigt wird. Dieser Umstand traf vor allem grössere Volkswirtschaften, welche üblicherweise von diesem Puffer profitieren. In Kleinstaaten spielt der Binnenmarktpuffer traditionell eine geringere Rolle, weshalb grössere Staaten in der Corona-Rezession ausnahmsweise ähnlich stark getroffen wurden wie kleinere üblicherweise.
