Österreich, das Land der versteckten Arbeitslosigkeit

Abstract

Die offiziellen Arbeitsmarktstatistiken zeigen ein höchst widersprüchliches Bild. So lag die Arbeitslosenrate in Österreich laut nationaler Berechnung im vergangenen Jahr bei 7,0 Prozent, laut EU-Definition aber nur bei 4,3 Prozent (2012). Für ein und dasselbe Land, in ein und demselben Zeitraum. Das ist übrigens kein österreichisches Phänomen, sondern ein europäisches. Mit Hilfe eines ökonometrischen Modells wird der Personenkreis, der im Englischen als „hidden unemployed“ bezeichnet wird, berechnet (die Wirtschaftswissenschaft spricht von „versteckter Arbeitslosigkeit“)
