Suomen rahoitusmarkkinoiden kansainvälistyminen

Abstract

Rahoitusmarkkinoiden kansainvälistyminen on Suomessa edennyt varsin nopeasti 1980-luvulla, vaikka pääomanliikkeiden säännöstely on edelleen tiukkaa useimpiin OECD-maihin verrattuna. Keskeisimmät pääomanliikkeisiin liittyvät rajoitukset tai kiellot Suomen Pankin valuuttamääräyksissä koskevat markan käyttöä ulkomailla, portfolioinvestointeja ja pankkien valuuttapositiota. Samanaikaisesti ja kansainvälistymiseen kytkeytyneenä kotimaassa syntyivät tällä hetkellä verrattain toimivat lyhyen rahan markkinat. Luonnollisena seurauksena rahamarkkinoiden toiminnan tehostumisesta on ollut pääomanliikkeiden aikaisempaa löyhempi kytkentä ulkomaankauppaan. Sitä vastoin korkoihin ja valuuttakursseihin liittyvien odotusten aikaansaamat puhtaat finanssioperaatiot ovat lisääntyneet.
