Abstract

This article presents an approach to the development of an interdisciplinary area of applied research aimed at understanding the place and role of small family businesses networking in the face of big challenges. Based on the results of the literature review, the authors characterize the problem versatility and the expediency to focus on the entrepreneurial intentions of the younger generations, who are able to integrate new technologies into the activities of family enterprises. The role of small family businesses, as the territorial economic system stakeholders, in achieving sustainable development goals is emphasized. The need is underlined to form a theoretical ground for identifying gaps and institutional failures that hinder the creation of small family businesses and reduce their stability, as well as to identify factors that affect the formation and small family businesses networking in the context of digital transformation.
