La Apertura Comercial no Discriminatoria como uno de los Determinantes de la Regionalización del Comercio

Abstract

Este documento presenta un modelo de equilibrio general simple para el comercio mundial, con competencia imperfecta, aranceles y costos de transporte, caracterizado por la existencia de rendimientos crecientes en la producción y preferencia por la variedad de parte de los consumidores. En este marco se analizan los efectos de la liberalización comercial no discriminatoria - tanto unilateral como multilateral - sobre el patrón geográfico de los flujos comerciales. Los resultados teóricos sugieren que las políticas comerciales no discriminatorias deben ser consideradas como uno de lo determinantes potenciales de la regionalización del comercio. La apertura no discriminatoria puede estimular el intercambio regional al potenciar los efectos de los factores geográficos sobre el comercio, incluso en ausencia de preferencias comerciales regionales.
