"The Formation of Suffolk Banking System--Spontaneous process of Central Banking Functions in a commercial bank--" (in Japanese)

Abstract

In U.S.A., There was not Central Bank before the Civil War. Simultaneously, many systems of controlling financial order were formed from various states and districts. Of them, we discuss about the formation of Suffolk Banking System in New England. How did a commercial bank iThe Suffolk Bank jcentralize reserve funds from Notes-issued banks in N.E? How was it the agent of making up accounts of the banks? How did it form the Central Banking Functions as "Banks' Bank" ? How was it the relations between the Suffolk, the Second Bank of the United States and the Bank of England, which had the limited Central Banking Functions at the same time? We analyze about the above points.
