Abstract

Los reguladores deben entender los principios económicos básicos de la regulación, para explicar sus decisiones de manera creíble, determinar si la solución de un regulador puede aplicarse en cualquier lado, desarrollar nuevas soluciones, etc. Para que la teoría económica sea relevante, los economistas deben luchar por incluir en su marco tantas restricciones como enfrente el regulador; no sólo restricciones tecnológicas, sino también de información, administrativas y políticas. Los debates sobre regulación se están volviendo, en todo el mundo, la frontera de la discusión sobre el papel del gobierno en la economía.
