Consumo de Energia, Emissões de CO2 e a Geração de Emprego e Renda no Agronegócio Brasileiro: Uma Análise Insumo-Produto

Abstract

The article evaluates the structure of Brazilian agribusiness in their components income, employment, sectorial energy consumption and CO2 emissions. For this reason, estimates an energy matrix with 56 sectors for energy compatible with the 56 sectors of Brazil presents the MIP for 2009, which enables measuring agribusiness in economic and physical units. It was found that agribusiness accounts for 21.26% of GDP by 31.93% of the jobs, by 34.84% and energy consumption by 40.74% of CO2 emissions. The physical-economic indicators indicate that the energy consumption and CO2 emissions in agribusiness are larger than the national average, in particular, highlights the agricultural industry as the aggregate proportion which emits more CO2 per unit of currency in the country, per worker and consumption energy. However, it was found that the Agribusiness uses "clean" energy (electricity with 11.14%) and mostly renewable (cane products, firewood and other primary sources with 80.53%).
