Abstract

When entrepreneurs’ success circumstances are analyzed, the reasons inspired by methodological individualism are often personal merit characteristics like ambition, intelligence, creativity, perseverance... However, since the early 1980s, yhe use of the concept of « social capital » has led to relativize the Self made man version which is often romantic. It highlights the place of society in the evolution and the form of the individual path. By analyzing 24 original portraits of famous scientific entrepreneurs, this paper permits to appreciate the role, in the professional path of scientific entrepreneurs studied, of each of the three social capital components which are knowledge capital, relations capital and finacial capital.
