El impacto del Tipo de Cambio Real en las Exportaciones no Tradicionales a partir de Microdatos: evidencia para Perú y Chile

Abstract

Este documento estima el impacto del Tipo de Cambio Real Bilateral (TCRB) en las Exportaciones No Tradicionales (XNT) de empresas chilenas y peruanas. A diferencia de trabajos anteriores sobre Chile y Perú, este trabajo considera un impacto heterogéneo del TCRB en las exportaciones de la empresa, dependiendo de la productividad de la firma. Además, estimamos el impacto del tipo de cambio real de países cuyas exportaciones compiten con las exportaciones peruanas y chilenas en terceros mercados. Esta variable ha sido poco utilizada en la literatura y su omisión provoca un sesgo a la baja en la estimación de la elasticidad del TCRB sobre las exportaciones. Para ello, utilizamos información detallada a nivel de empresa de los productos y destinos de las exportaciones chilenas de 2004 a 2011 y de las exportaciones peruanas de 2007 a 2014.
