Abstract

The goods market can be seen as a special case of a more general social situation. This succeeds as soon as the market is no longer recognized as a dispute between competitors, but as a dispute between demand and counter-demand on the basis of opposing valuations. The more general situation to be analyzed here is the ongoing process of antagonistic exchange of social sanctions, in which individuals (as well as groups) encounter one another.
