[The Peculiarities of the Methodological Approaches in the Economic Concept of Max Weber]

Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of the distinguishing features of the methodology of the famous scientist of encyclopedic knowledge Max Weber, representative of the "youngest"German Historical School in political economy. It is focused on his significance as an economist in spite of his recognition and reputation mainly in the sphere of sociology. the peculiarities of Max Weber's methodological positions in his economic concept are outlined. Concrete examples of applying the method of the ideal typification to the economic concept of Max Weber are analyzed. Weber's position on the question concerning the accordance between the Protestant and mainly Calvinist economic ethic and the capitalist spirit as well as its significance for the rise and development of the capitalism in Western Europe is estimated. The arguments of the critics of Weber's doctrine of the formation of the capitalist spirit as a consequence of the Protestant ethic dissemination are summarized. The conclusion about the significance of Weber's contributions to the development of modern economic thought in the direction of realizing the complication of the capitalist development as well as the changing society and human being in XXI century is drawn.
