Abstract

Against the backdrop of the cattle stock depletion and the stagnation of economic activities at the backyard level, this paper reviews the history of government support programs and the current state of the cattle industry. It also provides a literature review of supply behavior for cattle. Cross-country comparisons are made and future directions for research are also provided.
