Abstract

A 19. században végbement iparosodás és polgárosodás időszakában a magyarországi városok hosszú időn át megőrizték korábbi gazdasági sokszínűségüket. Ennek egyik tipikus jegye, az volt, hogy – leszámítva a nagyobb ipari központokat – a városokban a foglalkoztatás és a jövedelemtermelés terén a mezőgazdaság sokáig meghatározó maradt, vagyis a városban élők jelentős része az agrárszférában is dolgozott.
