La gran desaceleración económica mundial 2011-2015

Abstract

La economía mundial entre 2011 y 2015 atravesó por una desaceleración conjunta, tanto de la producción como del volumen del comercio. Diversas teorías se han presentado como explicaciones. La teoría del estancamiento secular, basada en una idea de los años treinta del siglo anterior, sostiene que las causas nacieron antes de la crisis financiera de 2008 y por ende son estructurales; la recesión de balances es una teoría que señala que la causa central está relacionada con las secuelas de la crisis de 2008. Ambas coinciden en que el problema central que explica la desaceleración es la insuficiencia crónica de demanda. El presente documento tiene como objetivo describir con detalle el fenómeno, explicarlo a partir de la información disponible, como por ejemplo, las respuestas de los bancos centrales, e intentar calzar los con las teorías mencionadas, tanto en los Estados Unidos, como en China y la eurozona.
