Abstract

Deregulasi perbankan dimulai sejak tahun 1983. Pada tahun tersebut, BI memberikan keleluasaan kepada bank-bank untuk menetapkan suku bunga. Pemerintah berharap dengan kebijakan deregulasi perbankan maka akan tercipta kondisi dunia perbankan yang lebih efisien dan kuat dalam menopang perekonomian. Pada tahun 1983 tersebut pemerintah Indonesia pernah berencana menerapkan "sistem bagi hasil" dalam perkreditan yang merupakan konsep dari perbankan syariah.
