Abstract

“Wayang” is included in a physical form, that's because “wayang” is a cultural object in a concrete physical form, “wayang” is one of the original cultures from Indonesia, to be precise from the island of Java which has been ingrained as the identity of the Javanese. From here a problem arises regarding the preservation of the “wayang kulit” culture, besides that it is also necessary to know how this “wayang kulit” can become an interesting culture and we also have to know why we need to preserve the “wayang kulit” culture. In this study, I used a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach and data collection techniques using questionnaires, interviews, and observations. So the result of this research is that today's teenagers are still quite interested and know about “wayang kulit” culture and they also have a desire to try to participate in the preservation of “wayang kulit” culture so that later this shadow puppet can always exist and be remembered as Indonesia's original culture.
